KENNETH Ferrie, 28, is a professional golfer who was born in Ashington, Northumberland, and now lives in Ponteland.

He is due to lead a team of youngsters in Northern Rock’s ProAm junior golf tournament tomorrow at Matfen Hall, which willfollow with his participation in The Rock a professional three-daytournament sponsored by Northern Rock.

Kenneth will be returning to Matfen on September 17 for the FerrieFoundation Pro Am where all proceeds will go to theAlzheimer’s Society and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

He started playing golf aged seven and turned professional in 1999after a successful amateur career which included winning theBritish Boys Championship in 1996.

Kenneth has twice won on the European Challenge Tour, has twoEuropean Tour wins as well as the 2003 Spanish Open and theEuropean Open in 2005, which have secured his tour card until 2011.
